Fire Driver Filmed Taking Diwali Bribe
4 Nov
Summary
- Fire service driver filmed taking bribe for firecracker shop NOC.
- An inquiry confirmed the driver was not a police sub-inspector.
- Strict action promised against the employee after investigation.
A driver employed at the Mauranipur fire station was allegedly captured on video accepting money from a trader. The bribe was reportedly in exchange for a no-objection certificate (NOC) required to establish a temporary firecracker shop before Diwali.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, showed the individual in a police sub-inspector's uniform. However, subsequent inquiries confirmed he was a driver with the fire service, not a police officer. His unauthorized use of a police uniform is also under scrutiny.
In response to the incident, SSP Vikas Kumar has ordered a formal inquiry. He has also directed that departmental action be initiated against the employee. The fire department has acknowledged the situation and stated that strict measures will be implemented following a comprehensive investigation.
As Diwali approaches, traders in Mauranipur and surrounding villages are preparing to set up temporary firecracker markets. Obtaining necessary temporary licenses and NOCs from the fire department is a mandatory step for these traders.
