- Family claims he acted suspiciously and sought financial gain.

Matthew Perry's family has expressed deep feelings of betrayal regarding the actions of his personal assistant and friend of 25 years, Kenneth Iwamasa. Iwamasa is scheduled for sentencing on May 27, having pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, which resulted in death.
In victim impact statements submitted to the judge, Perry's mother, Suzanne Morrison, and sisters, Caitlin and Madeline, detailed Iwamasa's disturbing behavior following the actor's fatal overdose in 2023. Madeline recalled Iwamasa appearing unsettled and volunteering his account of events, which she now believes was an attempt to distract from his involvement.
Suzanne Morrison stated that Iwamasa insisted on speaking to the family during funeral arrangements, presenting himself as someone who tried to save Matthew. Madeline expressed her struggle with the 'cruel joke' of the person responsible for her brother's death addressing his loved ones.
According to Suzanne, Iwamasa continued to contact the family after the burial, sending songs and maps, and calling when he saw rainbows, a favorite of Matthew's. She alleges he was caught in lies and, upon realizing he wouldn't receive a financial payout from Perry's estate, threatened legal action.
Caitlin Morrison, who runs the Matthew Perry House non-profit, stated she has no sympathy for Iwamasa and hopes he will eventually understand the gravity of his actions.
