SI Suspended for Slapping Tea Vendor Amidst Abuse

A Government Railway Police (GRP) sub-inspector, Vivek Kumar, posted at Mathura Junction, has been suspended. This action followed a preliminary inquiry into an incident that occurred on Wednesday morning. CCTV footage purportedly showed the sub-inspector slapping a tea vendor, Suraj Chauhan, and using abusive language.
The alleged altercation took place on Platform No 8. Vendor Suraj Chauhan, in his early 20s, was reportedly cleaning his stall when SI Vivek Kumar approached him. The vendor requested a short delay before preparing tea, but the officer allegedly reacted aggressively upon his return.
Taking cognisance of the circulating video, senior officials ordered an inquiry. GRP SP Anil Kumar Jha confirmed the suspension of SI Vivek Kumar for misconduct and indiscipline. A departmental inquiry has also been ordered to thoroughly investigate the matter.
