15 Feb
Summary
- He was arrested with a gold bar hidden under his pillow.
- A father and son duo were jailed for up to four years for Melbourne offences.
- He stole tens of thousands in jewelry after his release on parole.

A man with exceptional technical skills and a history of high-profile heists has been involved in further criminal activity. Initially apprehended with a gold bar concealed beneath his pillow, he and his father were convicted for offenses in Melbourne, receiving sentences of up to four years. Following his release, the younger man faced further sentencing in NSW for crimes involving over $5.5 million, encompassing dishonesty, firearms, and handling proceeds of crime.
His later criminal actions, including the theft of tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from three Sydney homes in February 2022, occurred just 19 months after his release on parole in July 2020. These recent burglaries targeted residences in Lindfield, Killarney Heights, and Allambie Heights. His DNA linked him to one of the Lindfield homes, leading to his arrest.
The court acknowledged his mental health conditions, including schizophrenia and schizoid personality disorder, as factors influencing his behavior, alongside motivations such as a desire for closeness with his father and financial gain. Despite the distress caused to victims, the judge opted for an Intensive Corrective Order instead of further prison time, citing a demonstrated "sustained course of rehabilitation" and a significant change in insight.
