Ex-NFL Star Sanchez Stabbed, Trial Delayed
28 Nov
Summary
- Mark Sanchez's trial for a February assault charge delayed to March 2026.
- The former NFL quarterback was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds.
- Sanchez was fired by Fox Sports following the October incident.

The trial for ex-NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, accused of assaulting a truck driver, has been rescheduled for March 12, 2026. This delay follows a request from Sanchez's legal team. The incident on October 5 resulted in Sanchez being hospitalized with multiple stab wounds to his torso and the truck driver, Perry Tole, also requiring medical attention. Sanchez was reportedly recovering from his injuries, which prevented his attendance at a previous hearing.
Following the altercation, Sanchez, who was in Indianapolis as an NFL analyst for Fox, has been fired by the network. Drew Brees has replaced him. Reports suggest Sanchez was smelling of alcohol when he allegedly accosted Tole, who claims self-defense after using pepper spray and a knife when Sanchez advanced. Tole has also filed a lawsuit against Sanchez and Fox Sports.
Sanchez was booked and released on bail after leaving the hospital on October 12, with a pre-trial hearing now set for March 3, 2026. The felony battery and misdemeanor charges against him stem from the alleged confrontation with Tole, who was not charged and claims he acted in self-defense.
