In Albury, New South Wales, a man accused of murdering a visiting British father-of-two has been deemed mentally unfit to face trial. The victim, Royce Mallett, was fatally stabbed while seated in his car outside the Hume Inn Motel in July 2024.
David Summers-Smith, the accused attacker, suffers from schizophrenia and exhibited symptoms of psychosis during the incident. He subsequently pleaded not guilty to murder based on mental impairment.
