A tragic event unfolded near Madurai when a man, Velmurugan, was fatally stoned while attempting to help his brother, Satheesh Kumar. Kumar's motorcycle had broken down late Wednesday night while returning from the Kulasekarapattinam Dasara festival.
Initially, Kumar was robbed of his cash and phone after resisting two assailants. When Velmurugan and another relative arrived to help, they were attacked with stones by a group, including a woman. Velmurugan sustained fatal injuries in the assault.
Tuticorin police arrested Kaaliraj and his two sons, Muthu Vijay and Isakki Raja, after a mobile phone found at the crime scene was traced to them. Investigators believe an earlier argument at the temple led to the fatal attack.
Velmurugan's relatives staged a road blockade to demand action against all responsible individuals. The protest concluded after police assured them of swift justice.
