A man was critically injured after being shot nine times during a confrontation on a busy downtown sidewalk this past Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. outside a Chipotle Mexican Grill near Main Street.
The victim, identified in court records as Curtis Moore, is reportedly the son of a Harris County Sheriff's sergeant. The Sheriff's Office confirmed they are providing support to the family.
Witnesses reported that the suspect, Nicholas Youngblood, 21, was selling cookies on the sidewalk before the violence erupted. Video footage appears to show Moore arriving on a bicycle, engaging in a verbal exchange with Youngblood, who then allegedly produced a firearm and fired.
Youngblood was apprehended nearby by Houston police and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors are requesting that he be denied bond, with a judge expected to review the motion on Tuesday. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
