A Centerville man, Jonathan Eric Link, 61, has been sentenced to a mandatory 15 years to life in prison for the murder of his girlfriend, Shannon Noel Anderson. The conviction resolves a cold case homicide dating back nearly 25 years.
Anderson was reported missing on July 30, 2001, by Link, with whom she lived along with her two young daughters. Her decomposed body was discovered on August 16, 2001, and identified through DNA testing. The Montgomery County Coroner's Office determined she died of blunt-force injuries to the head.
During sentencing, Anderson's daughter, Alexandrea McCulley, testified that Link was abusive and that she and her sister hid in their bedroom during the attack. Link, who claims innocence and intends to appeal, expressed remorse for the victim's family. Prosecutors stated their goal was justice for the family, who waited 24 years for accountability.
