19 Mar
Summary
- A man robbed six New York banks over five days.
- He stole a total of only $605 during his crime spree.
- Police released security camera photos in their search.

Gustavo DeJesus Torres, 33, concluded a five-day bank robbery spree across New York City with a surprisingly small total of $605. The crime spree began late last week when Torres entered a Chase bank and passed a note to the teller. He repeated this method multiple times over the following days, targeting several Chase branches.
His most successful attempt yielded $320 from a Jackson Heights, Queens, branch and $265 from a Flatbush, Brooklyn location. However, three other attempts on different branches were unsuccessful, with Torres leaving without any money. The NYPD has released security camera footage of Torres, including an image of him on a subway platform.
Records indicate Torres may have a history of similar offenses. A 2021 report details the arrest of a man with the same name for robbing a Chase bank in Newark, New Jersey, where he obtained $6,000. He is also believed to have robbed a bank of $600 last year.
