A 40-year-old man, Durgesh Patle, was arrested in Balaghat district for allegedly murdering his wife, Nikita Patle. The crime occurred on Thursday evening in Bamhni village after a domestic argument escalated violently while their children were away.
Patle reportedly beat his wife, causing fatal injuries. He then allegedly hung her body to simulate a suicide. Alerted neighbors, who heard the disturbance, contacted the police.
Upon initial inspection, officers noticed injury marks on the victim's body, raising suspicions. The husband confessed to the assault and the subsequent staging of the scene after his wife's death during interrogation.
A murder case has been registered against Durgesh Patle, and he is in custody. Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
