Cousin Murders Lover, Abandons Child

Police in Bijnor have arrested a 34-year-old man, Neeraj Kumar, in connection with the murder of his cousin, Usha, and the attempted murder of her daughter. The grim discovery of Usha's body and her crying three-year-old child was made on September 23 in the Alampur Adwa forest area. Usha was identified as Neeraj's paternal uncle's daughter. Authorities report that Neeraj had been in a relationship with Usha for approximately six months.

Reports indicate that Usha was experiencing marital difficulties and had been pressuring Neeraj to live with her. Following a dispute, Neeraj allegedly took Usha and her two children to Haridwar and Rishikesh on September 19, before staying at a Noorpur hotel. On the night of September 22, he is accused of strangling Usha near a sugarcane field and subsequently attempting to kill her three-year-old daughter. He then allegedly set Usha's body ablaze before fleeing.
