Drunk Relative's Knife Attack Leaves One Dead in Mau
8 Feb
Summary
- A man was killed and his brother injured by a relative.
- The attack occurred during dinner after an argument.
- The accused relative and his father are being sought by police.

In Khantiya village, Mau district, a violent incident on Friday night resulted in the death of 42-year-old Rambhavan Yadav and serious injuries to his elder brother, Vijaybhan Yadav (50). The assault was allegedly carried out by their relative, Ramjeet Yadav, with a knife. The motive appears to stem from an argument that escalated when Vijendra Yadav, Ramjeet's father, arrived in an inebriated state and began hurling abuses.
When Vijaybhan asked him to leave, Vijendra summoned his son, Ramjeet, leading to the attack. Rambhavan was fatally stabbed in the chest while trying to protect his brother and also sustained head injuries from a stick. Both brothers were taken to the district hospital, but Rambhavan succumbed to his injuries en route to a higher medical facility. Vijaybhan received first aid and was discharged.
The police have registered an FIR against four people, including Ramjeet and his father, Vijendra Yadav, based on the deceased's wife's complaint. Law enforcement teams are conducting raids to apprehend the accused, who are believed to be evading capture.
