- Argument over cooking Sunday roast escalated to violence.
- Defendant claims alter ego 'Veronica' was responsible.

Damian Hunter, 39, received a two-year jail sentence on Tuesday for assaulting his sister and threatening her with a knife. The assault occurred at her home in Scarborough on November 9 last year following a dispute over preparing a Sunday roast. Hunter reportedly became aggressive and physically attacked his sister after they returned to the house and he began drinking vodka.
During the prolonged assault, Hunter allegedly bit his sister on the cheek and threatened her with a knife. He later re-entered the house through a back door and continued the attack, holding the knife while restraining his sister on the kitchen floor. Police arrived and subdued Hunter with a Taser.
Hunter's sister informed the court that he suffers from serious mental health problems, including an alter ego named 'Veronica,' whom he believed to be his wife. She suggested 'Veronica' might have been in control during the violent episode. Hunter has a history of 62 previous offenses.
