A pedestrian sustained serious injuries, including a broken leg and shoulder, after being knocked down by a motorcyclist evading police. The collision happened in Bournemouth on Saturday as officers attempted to intercept an illegal gathering of motorbikes and e-bikes. The victim, Joe Hart, recounted being hit by the bike traveling at high speed, narrowly avoiding more severe harm.
The police intervention aimed to curb anti-social riding, which had been advertised on social media with intent to confront law enforcement. During the operation, four individuals were apprehended, facing charges related to public nuisance, driving offenses, and drug-related offenses. A variety of vehicles, including mopeds and e-scooters, were impounded by authorities.
Dorset Police confirmed the incident, noting that the serious injury sustained by the pedestrian following police contact necessitated a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The force emphasized its commitment to resident safety and combating illegal vehicle use in public spaces.
