A 72-year-old man, Udaybhanu Biswas, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly keeping his 35-year-old daughter Priyanka's body in their home for approximately four months. Priyanka had passed away due to illness on December 1, 2025, in Meerut's Teli Mohalla area. Her father reportedly kept the body in a locked room, attempting to suppress the resulting foul odor with perfume.
Local residents alerted the police on April 10 due to a persistent foul smell from the house. Upon investigation, police discovered the decomposed remains, which had largely turned skeletal. The body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination. Biswas, a retired administrative officer from the education department, has undergone psychiatric evaluation.
