A violent property dispute tragically culminated in murder on Thursday night in Iluppur village, near Mayiladuthurai. Mahendran, a 60-year-old man who had returned from abroad, was fatally attacked inside his home.
The incident is reportedly linked to a conflict over family property, involving his wife and daughters. Adding to the turmoil, Mahendran's eldest daughter, Mahalakshmi, had recently sought refuge at her father's house following a complaint of cruelty against her husband, Prabhakaran.
Poraiyar police had arrested Prabhakaran earlier on Thursday afternoon. However, just hours later, around 8 p.m., two unidentified individuals forced their way into Mahendran's residence. They reportedly pushed Mahalakshmi aside and fatally stabbed her father before escaping.
Mahalakshmi was a witness to the horrific crime. The victim's body was transported to Mayiladuthurai Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police are continuing their investigation into the motive and perpetrators of this family-fueled tragedy.
