In Katihar district, a 25-year-old man named Vinayak Pandit was found dead, hanging inside a locked room. The discovery was made at the house of his alleged girlfriend, Aarti Devi, in Kumaripur market.
Vinayak Pandit, who ran a fast-food stall with his father, reportedly left his home on Friday evening stating he was going out for dinner. His cellphone was later found switched off. Aarti Devi contacted his family late at night, accusing him of harassment over the past two years.
Upon arriving at Aarti Devi's house, Vinayak Pandit was found hanging. A dispute quickly arose between Aarti Devi and her sister-in-law, Phoolo Devi, as both accused the other of being responsible for his death. Police have detained both women for questioning.
Authorities are investigating the incident, which appears to be linked to a love affair. The body has been sent for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
