A man's unusual rooftop stunt at a hospital has resulted in a £200 fine. Leon Gillespie, aged 26, pleaded guilty to causing a nuisance on NHS premises after climbing onto the roof of Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospital on June 6. Dressed in a black costume he described as a crow outfit, Gillespie was seen with a long blade, disturbing staff and visitors.
The incident necessitated a response from four police cars and fire service vehicles to safely bring Gillespie down. He had not provided a clear motive for his actions. In addition to the rooftop incident, Gillespie also admitted to separate charges of theft, including cat food from Pets at Home and items from Sainsbury's.
He was ordered to pay a total of £100 in fines, £100 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and £50 in compensation. A health board spokesperson affirmed their zero-tolerance policy towards any form of abuse or nuisance on hospital grounds.
