Edin Dion Vrazalica, 36, is scheduled to start his first-degree murder trial on November 9th in Saskatoon. He is accused in the death of Lee Perkins, whose body was discovered on February 3rd, 2024. Vrazalica is presently serving a two-year sentence for trafficking bromazolam, a liquid benzodiazepine previously unknown in Saskatchewan. Police seized 43 bottles of the substance and 13,000 empty containers from a U-Haul van.
While incarcerated and awaiting trial for murder, Vrazalica was found with 3.65 grams of fentanyl. He received a sentence of 90 days, credited as time served, for this possession charge. His lawyer highlighted Vrazalica's significant opioid addiction and pain management challenges following an injury sustained during his arrest for the murder.
Co-accused Dillon Singler has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and faces a dangerous offender hearing in January 2027. Chantal Lee McLaren, also accused, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact and faces sentencing in December. McLaren was convicted of trafficking bromazolam and also identified as a victim of intimate partner violence by Vrazalica.
