A man has been detained and released by police in connection with the alleged abduction of Nancy Guthrie. On Tuesday night, the Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed they detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson, in Rio Rico, Arizona.
This individual, identified by family as Carlos Alberto Palazuelos, was reportedly detained while making deliveries with his family in the car. Authorities searched a property belonging to his mother-in-law, Josefina Maddox, and confiscated residents' phones. The Pima County Sheriff's Department later stated that the search was complete but the Nancy Guthrie investigation remains ongoing.
Law enforcement confirmed that the detention was based on leads but no charges were filed against the individual. The FBI has established a tip line and is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie or the arrest and conviction of any individuals involved in her disappearance.
