An Arizona man, Luke Daley, detained in February 2026 in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, has denied any involvement. Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, vanished from her home on February 1, 2026. Daley and his mother were held during a SWAT raid at their residence, located two miles from Guthrie's home, but were released without charges. Daley believes law enforcement targeted him because online speculation suggested he resembled a masked individual seen on surveillance footage the night of the disappearance.
In a recent interview, Daley stated, "It's not me. I don't see the resemblance of it looking like me. Absolutely not. I have nothing to do with this case." He expressed frustration with how quickly unsubstantiated claims spread online. Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie was abducted, noting her doorbell camera was disconnected and a masked gunman was seen on her porch. Her pacemaker was also disconnected from its app around the time of her disappearance. Despite an intensive investigation and significant national attention, no solid leads have emerged.
Daley insists he wants Guthrie to be found safe, echoing the community's hope. His attorney confirmed that Daley and his mother were detained but not arrested, emphasizing Daley's lack of connection to the case. The family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's recovery, with tips encouraged via the FBI and local law enforcement.
