Man Convicted in Death After Victim Assaulted Twice
27 Nov
Summary
- Man convicted of killing victim with brain bleed after two assaults.
- Victim had pre-existing condition from prior attack before fatal assault.
- Assailant's attack increased victim's risk despite unclear cause of death.

A man has been found guilty of unlawfully killing Josh Ingram, 33, who suffered a fatal brain bleed after being assaulted twice in the space of three days. John Farmer's attack on April 1, 2024, in Chatham, Kent, significantly increased the victim's risk of re-bleeding or a more severe hematoma.
Josh had previously been assaulted days earlier, an incident that led to a diagnosis of a subdural hematoma. Despite not being able to definitively prove Farmer caused the death, the prosecution argued his assault exacerbated the victim's condition. Josh's life support was switched off on April 2, 2024.
Farmer, who denied assault, faces a prison sentence measured in years. Josh, who was living in accommodation for the single homeless, was described by his family as "kind-hearted, old-fashioned and humorous."
