Manuel Leal Robles, 37, has been charged with first-degree murder in Bakersfield following the death of his wife, Ana Karen Robles. He allegedly confessed to the crime shortly after officers arrived at the scene, stating his wife had cheated. The incident occurred on November 26, with their 15-year-old son present.
The son reportedly witnessed his father confront his mother, armed with an AR-15, and fire multiple shots after an argument. He also recounted his father's threats of self-harm and his own efforts to disarm and restrain him. Robles was later apprehended by police approximately two miles from his residence.
Robles is also facing charges for willful cruelty to a child and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse. He has pleaded not guilty and is currently held without bail, with a court date scheduled for February 11. The couple's son had previously reported frequent arguments and instances of his father damaging property when drinking.
