Mark Alexander Adams is accused of a series of violent incidents that resulted in the death of an 88-year-old woman in Bellevue. Court documents state Adams allegedly waited for Shinko Oshimo in the Bellevue YMCA parking lot on February 28 before striking her with his vehicle and running her over. His license plate was captured on YMCA security cameras.
Following the Bellevue incident, Adams reportedly drove to Tacoma, where he is accused of hitting two additional pedestrians. In one Tacoma incident, documents claim he pursued a skateboarder, striking them and then attempting to hit them again as he reversed. In a second Tacoma incident, he allegedly drove into a gas station parking lot, hitting a truck driver and then another person from behind.
Adams was apprehended the following day in Port Townsend, with his phone's location data placing him at all three scenes. Court documents also reveal an active protection order against him, filed by his family, who accuse him of stalking and threatening them with a knife. Prosecutors have requested bail be set at $5 million, citing Adams as a significant danger to the community.
