Sister Shot Dead for Inter-Caste Marriage

A man, identified as Sanju, has been arrested in Rohtak, Haryana, for allegedly murdering his sister, Sapna (23). Police reported that the murder occurred on Wednesday evening at her home in Kahani village, apparently because she married Suraj, an autorickshaw driver, over two years ago. Sanju, along with three accomplices, is accused of carrying out the fatal shooting.
Authorities stated that Sanju was also planning to kill his sister's husband, Suraj, but was intercepted by police on Thursday. During the apprehension on Ladot-Bohar road in Rohtak, the accused individuals opened fire on the police team. The police returned fire in self-defense, resulting in all four suspects sustaining bullet injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at PGIMS Hospital in Rohtak.
The other arrested individuals have been identified as Rahul from Kahani village, and Ankit and Gaurav from Sonipat district. According to police, none of the four accused have prior criminal records. Recovered items include firearms, live and blank cartridges, and a motorcycle.
