In Sasthamcotta, Kollam, a domestic dispute escalated tragically when 41-year-old K Sivan allegedly murdered his 65-year-old mother-in-law, Shyamala. The incident unfolded on Sunday evening when Sivan's wife, Rajani, sought refuge at her mother's home following marital discord.
Sivan pursued his wife and engaged in an argument with both Rajani and Shyamala. The altercation turned violent, prompting the mother and daughter to flee to a neighbor's house. Sivan, however, followed and struck Shyamala with a wooden object, causing severe head injuries.
Shyamala was transported to various hospitals, including Kottayam Government Medical College Hospital's ICU. Despite receiving ventilator support, she passed away early Tuesday morning. Sivan fled the scene but was apprehended shortly after and remanded to judicial custody. Additional charges, including murder, are expected to be filed.
