On Monday, authorities apprehended Jeffrey Lynn Nelson, 47, following a hostage situation in Gulf Park Estates. Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Barnacle Boulevard after reports indicated a man was holding a woman hostage and threatening her with bodily harm. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department confirmed the suspect's arrest on charges including domestic violence by aggravated assault and kidnapping.
Negotiators engaged with Nelson at the scene. However, when the suspect failed to surrender, law enforcement officers entered the bedroom where he was located and made the arrest. Nelson is being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.
