In Memphis, Tennessee, Shai Wise, 22, is facing charges after an alleged incident at a McDonald's drive-thru during the week of July 5. Wise is accused of attempting to run over Samareya Payne, the mother of their 1-year-old child, while she was exiting their vehicle with the baby.
Witnesses reported seeing Wise attempt to strike Payne multiple times with his car. Following the incident, Wise fled the scene as police arrived, leading officers on a chase down Ridgeway Road characterized by speeding and dangerous maneuvers through traffic. An 11-year-old child was found in Wise's vehicle upon his arrest.
Wise has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, domestic assault, and reckless driving. He posted a $10,000 bond on Wednesday, July 8, and is scheduled for a court appearance on August 17. Residents expressed dismay over the violence, with one calling it "sad" and "crazy."
