Roberto Mazzarella, a 48-year-old man suspected of being a Mafia boss and the head of Naples' Mazzarella Clan, has been arrested. The apprehension took place in a luxury resort on Italy's Amalfi coast, in a villa in Vietri sul Mare. Authorities reported that Mazzarella, who is wanted in connection with several contract murders, did not resist arrest.
Found with his wife and two children, Mazzarella was discovered in a villa that commands a nightly rate of €1,000. Police seized €20,000 in cash, three expensive watches, multiple mobile phones, and forged identity documents. The Mazzarella Clan is recognized as one of the most influential entities within the Camorra, the Mafia organization deeply rooted in the Naples region.
Mazzarella is specifically sought in connection with ordering the murder of a Mafia hitman's brother. This alleged revenge killing occurred in a Naples butcher's shop in December 2000. The Amalfi Coast, where the arrest was made, is renowned for its scenic beauty and high-end holiday destinations.
