A woman in Lucknow has accused her cousin, Suraj Kumar Rana, of severe harassment, blackmail, and death threats. The complaint details that Rana allegedly posted the victim's private photographs and images of her home on Instagram on February 23, 2026, with the intent to defame her. This incident is part of a prolonged period of harassment that reportedly began in December 2025.
The victim stated that after she confronted Rana about the social media posts, he escalated his actions by threatening the lives of her father and brother. Despite her attempts to block his numbers, Rana allegedly persisted using new SIM cards, sending abusive messages, and making threatening calls.
According to the complaint, Rana also attempted to pressure the woman into meeting him in Lucknow and later coerced her into a physical relationship. She reported knowing Rana for years through family ties, first meeting him at a wedding in 2013. He allegedly exploited this familial trust after she distanced herself from him.
Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and initiated an investigation. Senior police officer Aniruddh Vikram Singh confirmed that the woman's complaint has been recorded. Evidence, including the circulated photographs and digital records, is being examined as part of the ongoing probe.
