In Lucknow, a 30-year-old man, Mushraf Ali, sustained a severe throat injury from a kite string on February 12. The incident happened near Maharana Pratap crossing as Ali was traveling with his family. The string, suspected to be sharp and glass-coated manjha, caused a deep wound, leading to significant bleeding.
Six days after the event, on February 17, Hussainganj police registered an FIR against an unidentified kite flyer. The case was filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for a negligent act endangering human life. Authorities are actively scanning CCTV footage from various locations to identify the individual responsible for flying the kite at the time of the incident.
Police are also investigating whether banned synthetic or Chinese manjha was used in the incident. A relative of the victim emphasized the need for swift police action to prevent future tragedies, urging for the identification and punishment of the kite flyer.
