The operation, which concluded on February 28, 2026, led to the arrest of five individuals, all residents of Lucknow. The gang's modus operandi involved identifying individuals seeking jobs online, building trust with false offers, and then luring them to secluded locations.
Once at these isolated spots, victims were blindfolded, assaulted, and forced to transfer money digitally. Their personal belongings, such as wallets, watches, and jewelry, were also seized. The swift action by the Hazratganj police, formed into three teams, utilized cyber surveillance and technical intelligence to track down the perpetrators. A significant recovery was made, including cash, mobile phones used in the crimes, and looted valuables like a gold chain and a wallet.
