Teen Charged with Murder After Newborn Found Deceased

In Louisiana, a 14-year-old girl has been charged with first-degree murder following the discovery of her deceased newborn. The incident began when the teen sought medical attention at a hospital, leading authorities to her residence in Denham Springs. There, officers found the newborn hidden in a tote bag and showing extensive injuries to the neck.

Medical personnel indicated the infant was full-term and born alive before allegedly being killed. The sheriff's office stated it's believed the teen concealed her pregnancy from her family. She was initially arrested on charges of failure to seek assistance and obstruction of justice.

An autopsy later confirmed the newborn's death as a homicide, prompting the upgrade to a first-degree murder charge. The teenager is currently in custody at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center, awaiting further proceedings.
