On November 13, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Slidell, Louisiana, where a 55-year-old grandmother, Kristen Anders, has been charged with vehicular homicide after allegedly running over and killing her 5-year-old grandson, Carson Lawson.
According to the Slidell Police Department, the incident happened just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, when officers responded to a report of a car hitting a young child in a driveway. Investigators learned that Carson Lawson was waiting for the school bus in the driveway, standing in front of Anders' 2016 GMC Yukon that was backed into the driveway, when his grandmother allegedly ran him over.
Police Chief Daniel Seuzeneau confirmed that Anders was not aware Lawson was outside at the time of the crash, and she immediately stopped the car when she realized she had hit something. However, officers determined that Anders was under the influence of alcohol and central nervous system depressants at the time of the incident.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office is currently investigating the case, and the grandmother has been granted a $50,000 cash surety bond. This tragic situation has left the family devastated, as they not only have to cope with the loss of their 5-year-old child but also the fact that the grandmother is now facing criminal charges.
