Lost Phone Found After 4 Years in Another State!

A 24-year-old Nagpur man experienced disbelief when informed his mobile phone, lost four years prior, had been recovered in West Bengal. Sohel Singh Thakur lost his phone in March 2022 while traveling by train and filed a complaint. The Kapil Nagar police successfully tracked the device using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. The phone was traced to Siliguri, West Bengal, where its current holder could not use it due to being blocked, and it was subsequently couriered back.
As a gesture of goodwill before the Ganeshotsav festival, the Kapil Nagar police returned 60 recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners. Among the recipients was an elderly domestic worker whose phone was sold by her son for alcohol; police recovered it within six weeks of her complaint. A student also gratefully received her phone back, which contained important academic data. Senior police officials stated the initiative aimed to foster happiness and reinforce public trust, recognizing the significant personal and practical value of mobile devices.
