Body camera footage has been released showing the moments officers arrived at a deadly shooting involving a locksmith in Miami. The incident occurred on February 20, when officers discovered 37-year-old Adrian Venereo with a gunshot wound to the head in a hallway. Officers immediately attempted to save his life by performing CPR for nearly two minutes until Miami Fire Rescue arrived.
Authorities stated that Venereo, a locksmith, had been called to an apartment building by a resident, Luis Lemus, to help gain access. Ring camera footage showed Venereo rolling his tool bag down a hallway with Lemus. Detectives allege Lemus then shot Venereo as he was attempting to open the apartment door.
Lemus was apprehended later that day. He was found to be wearing the same clothing seen in the video and was in possession of the firearm believed to be used in the shooting. His trial is scheduled for November. The Miami-Dade State Attorney's office has warned that the body camera footage is difficult to watch.
