A 25-year-old man, Daniel Keatinge, was fatally shot on Formosa Road in Fazakerley, Liverpool, on the evening of January 30, 2009. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots around 19:30 GMT. The perpetrator, believed to be between 16 and 20 years old and wearing dark clothing and a black Lowe Alpine hat, escaped the scene and has not been apprehended.
Merseyside Police are actively pursuing leads and have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses, specifically asking if anyone recalls seeing a silver car in the area around the time of the incident. Despite a £10,000 reward offered in 2014, the case remains cold. Keatinge had a prior conviction for wounding with intent, but police found no direct link between his previous offense and his murder, though they remain open-minded.
Keatinge's family, devastated by the loss, described him as "big-hearted" but acknowledged he was "no angel." They continue to seek answers and justice. Detective Howard Rubbery of the Serious Crime Review Unit urged anyone with information, however small, to come forward, suggesting that the passage of time may have allowed individuals to reconsider their allegiances.
