Lindsay Clancy Trial Mistrial: Fund Goal Soars
5 Sep
Summary
- Fundraiser for Lindsay Clancy's parents increased from $2M to $3M.
- Mistrial declared after nearly six weeks of testimony and deliberations.
- Parents have incurred substantial expenses over three years.

The online fundraiser for the parents of Lindsay Clancy has seen its financial target raised from $2 million to $3 million. This adjustment was made following the mistrial declared in Clancy's closely watched Massachusetts murder trial. The organizer cited the extension of legal proceedings and the parents' indefinite displacement from their home as reasons for increasing the goal.
The "Musgrove Family Fund" was established to assist Mike and Paula Musgrove, who relocated from Connecticut to be near their daughter. Over the past three years, they have faced significant expenses from continuous travel, hotel stays, and court attendance. The campaign explicitly states it does not seek a stance on the case but offers humanitarian relief for severe emotional trauma and mounting financial burdens.
The mistrial was declared after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict following nearly six weeks of testimony and hundreds of exhibits. Clancy, 36, faced charges of first-degree murder in the deaths of her three young children in January 2023. Her defense argued she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis. Juror notes reportedly suggested an 11-1 split in favor of acquittal before the mistrial.
Prosecutors will now decide whether to retry Clancy, drop the case, or seek a resolution. A hearing is scheduled for September 29, where the defense may seek a finding of not guilty, potentially indicating the prosecution's next steps. The fund has currently raised over $1.17 million.
