Nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte was fatally stabbed while playing with a hula hoop outside her mother's shop on Fountain Lane in Boston, Lincolnshire, on July 28, 2022. The court heard that Deividas Skebas, who had no prior connection to Lilia, approached the child and stabbed her once in the chest before fleeing the scene.
Despite efforts to save her, Lilia died within an hour of the attack. Skebas was arrested two days later and later found unfit to stand trial due to schizophrenia and psychosis. After his mental health improved, he faced a murder trial.
Recently, Skebas was found guilty of the 'deliberate and planned' killing of Lilia. He has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 25 years. The judge noted that alternative arrangements for his custody may be needed due to his ongoing mental health state.
