Wife and Lover Get Life for Husband's Murder

In a significant judicial decision, an Aligarh court has handed down life sentences to a 35-year-old woman and her lover for the murder of her husband in 2025. The victim, Suresh Singh, aged 40, worked as a security guard in Delhi. The couple's 14-year-old son provided crucial testimony, revealing his mother's extramarital affair and her direct role in ordering his father's killing.

The son recounted how his mother instructed her lover, Manoj Kumar, to shoot his father, stating, "Shoot him, just shoot him; don't let him live." The court found both Manoj Kumar and Beena guilty of murder, imposing a fine of Rs 35,000. The lover also received a separate sentence under sections related to murder and the Arms Act.

Investigations revealed Beena had been involved with Manoj, who owned a grocery shop, for approximately five years. The affair, which was known to Suresh and his family, led to strong objections. The attack occurred on July 10, when Suresh was with his brother, Vijay Singh. Manoj fired at Suresh, hitting him in the chest, and then also fired at Vijay, who narrowly escaped.

During the trial, the prosecution presented a comprehensive case, including eyewitness testimonies, medical evidence, the postmortem report, and the recovered firearm. The defense's claim of village rivalry was dismissed by the court, which ultimately convicted the duo for murder committed with common intention.
