In Kurukshetra, a court has delivered a life sentence to Ganesh, a resident of Motihari district, Bihar, for a murder conviction. The additional sessions judge also mandated a fine of Rs 50,000, with a further six months of simple imprisonment applicable if the fine is not paid. This judgment concludes a case dating back to July 5, 2022.
The incident involved the death of Rajesh Kumar, originally from Motihari and residing in Ambala Cantonment. His wife, Munni Devi, and their children were living in a rented house in Ishaq village, Kurukshetra. On the night of July 3, 2022, Munni Devi was found unconscious in her bathroom and was later pronounced dead. Neighbours were alerted to the situation, and the police were informed.
A murder case was registered at Pehowa Sadar police station. The investigation, led by then SHO Inspector Nirmal Singh, resulted in Ganesh's arrest. He was sent to judicial custody, and the investigation's findings were presented to the court. Following hearings, the court convicted Ganesh on February 11, 2026, citing witness testimonies and material evidence.
