Lindsey Isaacs spent 13 days incarcerated after investigators mistook her vehicle's license plate data for that involved in a fatal crash on October 4, 2025. Despite her car having no collision damage and her having a receipt proving her location, authorities focused on a Flock camera hit. Her attorney's analysis indicated she was miles away when the crash occurred.
Investigators overlooked other evidence, such as a 911 call describing a maroon Durango and paint transfer matching that color on another vehicle. Isaacs' black Durango showed no damage. Seven months after the crash, she surrendered and faced eight felony charges, spending 13 days in jail, including time in solitary confinement.
Prosecutors and a Florida Highway Patrol team later re-examined the case. Finding no crash damage on her vehicle, they pursued evidence pointing to another Durango. On May 22, 2026, all charges against Isaacs were dropped, and Alisa Lee Montalvo was arrested, facing charges including vehicular homicide.
In response to similar concerns and a rapid increase in systems, Florida revoked permits for license plate readers on state highway rights-of-way on August 31, 2026. Flock Safety also announced changes, reducing data retention to seven days and mandating audit tools for law enforcement by the end of 2026.
