Two men stand accused of the murder of Gary Piatek, 60, who was last seen alive in April 2024. Yosif Ibrahim, 43, and Omed Firuzman, 25, appeared at Leicester Crown Court and were informed their trial is scheduled for October 12, 2026. The trial is anticipated to run for up to eight weeks.
Leicestershire Police initiated a murder inquiry on February 10, 2026, following Piatek's disappearance. Investigators conducted extensive searches at a property in Broad Avenue, Evington, Leicester, which Piatek had inherited. These searches even involved demolishing an extension to the house.
Both Ibrahim and Firuzman will enter their pleas at Leicester Crown Court on March 26, 2026. In connection with the investigation, a total of eight individuals have been charged with various offences. These include assisting an offender and acquiring criminal property, with some charges relating to Piatek's house and finances.
