LAPD Officer Faces Prison for Secretly Recording Racist Colleagues

Officer Daniel Flores of the Los Angeles Police Department faces 16 felony charges for allegedly recording confidential communications without consent. These recordings reportedly captured colleagues making racist, homophobic, and sexist comments. Flores filed a lawsuit in June 2026, alleging he began experiencing stress after a new supervisor in 2021 made derogatory statements about various demographic groups and encouraged discriminatory discourse.
