A devastating murder-suicide occurred on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, within a Lakewood residence, resulting in the deaths of four family members. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed the incident involved a man who fatally shot his wife and younger daughter before taking his own life.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 8 a.m. at a home on Lorelei Avenue. Upon arrival, they were met by the couple's 19-year-old daughter, who had escaped the house unharmed. She informed deputies that her father had shot at her.
Inside, officers discovered Hector Lionel Alfaro, 52, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They subsequently found his 48-year-old wife and their 17-year-old daughter, both deceased from gunshot wounds in separate bedrooms. The eldest daughter, who was asleep during the incident, recounted hearing gunshots and later being targeted by her father with a handgun.
