Actor Laila Khan, known for her role in 'Wafa: A Deadly Love Story', and five family members vanished in 2011, leading to a grim discovery. Investigations revealed they were murdered at their Igatpuri farmhouse. Their bodies were found buried beneath a pit intended for a swimming pool.
Parvez Tak, Laila's stepfather, who reportedly disapproved of her acting career, was identified as the perpetrator. He confessed to killing the family with an associate after a gathering at the farmhouse. To conceal the crime, the bodies were interred in the pit, and one of the family's vehicles was abandoned in Jammu.
In 2024, a Mumbai court sentenced Tak to death for the murders, deeming it a "rarest of rare" and barbaric act. Despite the conviction, an alleged accomplice who assisted Tak in the murders has never been apprehended and remains at large, prolonging the case's unsettling narrative.
