A gun transaction in a Lafayette Taco Bell parking lot on Sunday evening resulted in a robbery. The transaction occurred around 7 p.m. in the 2100 block of South 26th Street.
The intended buyer, a 21-year-old from Clinton, Indiana, reported that the sellers produced a firearm and stole his money instead of completing the sale. Lafayette police responded swiftly to the incident.
Authorities apprehended two individuals, identified as Keiyon Weaver, 20, and Tyquan Ladale Overall, 19. During the arrest, officers discovered that one of the suspects was in possession of a pistol converted to fire automatically. Weaver faces multiple charges, including robbery, theft, intimidation, pointing a firearm, and illegal possession of a machine gun. Overall was arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft. Both men are being held without bond at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
