Summary
- A civil lawsuit was filed June 22 against Card Haven for not returning Pokemon cards.
- An estimated $44,000 worth of Pokemon cards are missing from the shop.
- The shop owners allegedly ignored a contract's mediation clause and face theft accusations.

A civil lawsuit was filed on June 22 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, against Card Haven, a Lafayette consignment shop. Valentin Ortiz of Hamilton County alleges that the store and its owners, Aaron Hawkins and Thomas Hogan, failed to return collectible Pokemon cards entrusted to them for sale. The lawsuit estimates the value of the unreturned cards at $44,000.
Ortiz reportedly gave the shop 500 Pokemon cards, with a contract signed on December 5. While some cards were sold and $5,000 was paid to Ortiz, the suit claims 86% of the cards are now missing. Attempts to contact the owners have been unsuccessful, and the shop was found closed despite posted business hours.
The lawsuit further accuses Card Haven, Hawkins, and Hogan of breaching their contract and fiduciary duty, ignoring a mediation clause, and committing theft and unjust enrichment. No court hearings have been scheduled in the case at this time.
