Couple Convicted in Gruesome Child Murder Case

A Lancaster couple, Maurice Taylor Sr., 39, and Natalie Brothwell, 48, have been convicted by a Los Angeles County jury of murder and child abuse. The verdict stems from the horrific 2020 incident where they fatally stabbed and decapitated two of their children, a 12-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter.
During the trial, prosecutors detailed how the couple further subjected their two younger sons, aged 8 and 9, to unimaginable trauma. The younger boys were forced to view their deceased siblings' bodies and were subsequently held captive in their bedrooms for several days without any food.
Both Taylor and Brothwell now face a maximum sentence of life without the possibility of parole, plus additional prison time. Sentencing is slated for January 13 in the Antelope Valley court. District Attorney Nathan Hochman described the acts as "monstrous cruelty" and praised the jury's delivery of justice.
